The grand finale of PC Jewellers Miss India Worldwide pageant to be held at Pragati Maidan Jan 31 and Deepak’s Tijori Entertainment is hosting the show with Kaleidovision. To add glamour and glitter to the event Bollywood beauties like Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Yana Gupta have been roped in. “There will be a mix of beauty, talent and glamour at the finale of the pageant, with Bollywood beauties shaking a leg with the participants; it will be an evening to remember,” host Deepak Tijori said at the press conference here Wednesday. The 20 finalists will go through a 10 day grilling regime. “Training is not going to be a cakewalk for them. They will have to go through a tough and hectic regime of around 14 hours a day, which means they cannot take it easy,” said Mehar Bhasin, who will look after the grooming of the contestants. “The finalists will undergo an exclusively designed training and grooming regime that includes fitness, diction, psyche, aptitude, hair and make-up sessions. The training will enhance their confidence not only for the finale, but for further rounds to be held on the international stage as well,” she added. Beauty expert Blossom and Samantha Kochhar will take care of their beauty and hair, while fitness tips will be given by model-turned-actors Milind Soman and Rahul Dev

Sizzling performances from Bollywood stars at screen awards

The 15th Annual Nokia Star Screen awards saw some breath taking performances by leading Bollywood stars. Where Priyanka Chopra rocked the stage on number like ‘Pardesi girl’ from her recent films, newbie Anushka Sharma stole evryone’s heart with her dancing skills displayed on her hit number ‘Dance Pe Chance’. Katrina Kaif was as gracious as ever as she performed on her rocking numbers from ‘Singh is Kinng’ and ‘Race’. Last but not the least, rockstar Arjun Rampal looking dashing in washed out jeans and a black fitted ganji impressed everyone with his performance and bringing the show to utter climax by calling Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra on stage to join him. The premiere of the much awaited horror flick ‘Raaz- The mystery continues’ was held at Fame Adlabs in Mumbai on 24th January. The event was attended by the cast and the makers of the film including Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt, Adhyayan Suman, Kangana Ranaut, Mohit Suri and also Soha Ali Khan. Vidya Balan under the influence of Naseeruddin Shah

Vidya Balan was overawed and intimidated when she found herself paired next to the well known actor Naseeruddin Shah Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Ishqiya’.

Though Vidya herself is a very fine actress, she could not find herself sitting around normally and sharing a normal conversation with him when the shot was not on. Then Naseer finally took an initiative and deliberately struck up a casual conversation with her, which broke the ice. In fact, she was so influenced by Naseer that she has worked very hard for her role and says that she has not worked so hard on a role in the longest time.

Ishqiya is being produced by Bharadwaj. The film also stars Arshad Warsi besides Balan and Naseer. Her other films include like R Balki’s ‘Pa’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Chenab Gandhi’

Payal Rohatgi shot into limelight from the oblivion with ‘Big Boss 2’, though we need not mention here the cat-fight she had with Sambhavna Seth and the way Sambhavna gave her the hell of a time on the exit interview with Pooja Bedi on Bigg Boss 2 . Sambhavna had written down the names of her notorious movies and was defending her “down market” remarks made by Payal during the show.

Juhi Chawla in a new blonde look

Juhi Chawla is one actress who is known for her versatility and bubbly nature and this time again, she is there to shock everyone with a completely different blonde look for her role in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Luck By Chance’. In fact, it was the look of the character which impressed Juhi more than the length of the role in the film. Her blonde look has been designed by B Blunt’s Avan Contractor.

Juhi plays the character of Minty Rolly, the producer’s (Rishi Kapoor) wife.
“When Zoya offered me the role I was extremely thrilled, even though I was told it was not a big role, I dint mind, it was different from all the other characters I have played before, and that was the most exciting part. Playing Minty was so much fun! And moreover I got to color my hair blonde, which also was something I had never done before.” says Juhi.

A dream come true for Tusshar Kapoor

Having one’s own house in the dream city of Mumbai is perhaps the dream of everyone in this tinsel town and our Tusshar Kapoor is no exception to it, but this new year brought a pleasant surprise for Tusshar when his parents, Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor, surprised him by gifting him a penthouse at Juhu in Mumbai. The duo bought the house a few years ago and recently began furnishing it for their son.

Jeetu and Shobha had the house custom designed prior to gifting it to son Tusshar. They handed over the keys to their son on the 31st; Tusshar was so thrilled with his gift that he immediately arranged a small party for close friends at his new bachelor pad.

Tusshar had long nurtured his dream of owning a house in Mumbai and even with this dream come true, the actor insists that he shall continue to stay with his parents and only use the house for get together with friends and family, and for time-offs.

Kareena Kapoor backs out from ‘Five Divas’

Kareena Kapoor has taken a new resolution it seems. The actress has decided to cut down her on-stage performances at award functions and also she will no longer perform at private parties.

In keeping with this resolution, Kareena backed out from the final performance at Screen Film Awards on Wednesday night where she was to perform with other actresses like Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.

The act, titled ‘Five Divas’, is to be the highlight of the evening. But now it is being re-titled ‘Four Divas’ because Kareena has backed out even though the TV promos of the act are being aired.

Though Bebo has not given an official explanation for her decision, yet this act of hers is being seen as her snub to actresses like Bipasha, Katrina and Deepika.

Ajay Devgan in his new ‘rockstar’ avataar

‘London Dreams’ directed by Vipul Shah and starring Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan and Asin is supposedly based on the story of a music band and both Salman and Ajay play rock stars in the film. While one succeeds, the other fails. Both of them fall in love with Asin’s character, a South Indian musician. Well, it would be quite a refreshing change to see the ‘Deadly Devgan’ in a different avatar this time coz he is more seen in serious roles.

The look of Ajay Devgan in the film done by designer Ana Singh was leaked while the crew filmed a song sequence in London’s Trafalgar square. Ajay was seen sporting a cool look- with spiked hair, cool glares, a dark jacket and a scarf tied around his neck, not to forget the earrings he wears.

Interestingly, London Dreams and the recently released Rock On share the same music directors Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy.

Fall of Enchantment by Kingfisher 2009 Calendar

Alas! With the status of presenting best eye-candies, 2009 Kingfisher Calendar disillusioned its fans this time! L Regrettably the calendar models lacked all the charm and attraction! Thus, all the zeal and zest melted down as the calendar landed on the desk!

Arjun Rampal, bollywood hunk, manifested the occasion of release and introduction of the calendar along with its masterminds and the oh-NOT-so-cute models! Although there seemed to be immense pleasure among the lineup; while posing and smiling for the promotion purposes; yet there was an evident below par rating of looks and underdressed appearance of models!

As the Chairman of Kingfisher briefed up the idea of simplicity and instinctive looks that he executed in his pictures; he stated,” I had briefed the photographer to work in a space that would create such images. The accent was on simplicity and working with natural elements.” Though, the pictures are truly fine-looking art pieces; but the matter of fact is few want to look at the women themselves (as per the idea behind the images).

So the conclusion of the story is our unfulfilled desire of seeing some smoking hot babes that are roped on Kingfisher Calendar must be taken good care of perhaps next year. Amen!

Neetu Chandra gets mercury soaring for ‘Maxim’

Neetu Chandra was last seen in ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye’ in her track suits and sarees. So, she decided to go for a change and shock everyone with her dare-bare shoot for ‘Maxim’. However, the shoot is not for the cover, but for a full fledged feature in the magazine.

However, Neetu doesn’t find this shoot very shocking as she has already worn swimsuits in her earlier films. She says, “Don’t be so shocked; it isn’t that scandalous after all. Maxim approached me to do the photo shoot. I thought to myself that when I am quite comfortable to do so many different kinds of characters anyways in my films then why not be a face for this photo shoot as well? I have worn swimsuit in my very first film [Garam Masala] so there was no big deal in doing it again. For the Maxim shoot, it was quite a collaborative act and I worked with the costume designer to arrive at a final look for me.”

When asked if she was comfortable with the shoot, Neetu says, “Quite comfortable because I am someone who doesn’t believe in the concept of ‘Size Zero’. I believe that for a woman, her curves and curls should be in the right place. I have been getting calls appreciating my approach towards the shoot. Of course, people have found me quite sensuous and hot. The credit for that should also go to the magazine which is quite creative in itself and photographer R. Burman who was excellent behind the camera

Rahman Spirited Bollywood by Winning Golden Globe

The Golden Globe award for original music score to A.R Rahman for his music direction for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ has brought great honor to Indian Movies and uplifted sprit of Bollywood fraternity in International arena. The movie is directed by British Danny Boyle.

This award has proved and established the Indian talent in international film industry as A.R Rahman won this award among the best music composers around the world. Anu Malik praised this achievement of A.R Rahman in words, “The Golden Globe is a coveted award and it is a rare honour for an Indian music director. By winning it, competing with composers from around the world, Rahman has not only proved his worth, but has also conveyed to the world that, given a chance, an Indian music director can deservedly vie with any composer in the world,”

Rahman won this renowned award for composing song “Jai Ho” lyrics prepare by Gulzar. The song is sung by Sukhwinder Singh. According to him, “The song ‘Jai Ho’ is a very naughty and playful number; it has a good combination of poetry and music and and I enjoyed singing it.” “Slumdog Millionaire” has won four Golden Globe awards other than the best music director. Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone - The next on-screen pair?

The first thing that strikes our mind when we see Deepika Padukone and Farhan Akstar together is their noticeable difference in their heights. Deepika is known for her towering height. Even on his chat show, ‘Oye! Its Friday’, Farhan jokingly measured his height by bringing a measuring tape on the show, making her stand upright and hold the tape from the top as he places the other end on her feet.

But never mind this difference coz the duo are set to pair together in Excel Entertainment’s next, ‘Kartik Calling Kartik’. The film will be directed by debutant Vijay Lalwani. The film will be shot on a start-to-finish schedule from April to June at various locales of India.

It seems that the film’s story had Farhan so excited that he decided to push his plans of directing aside for a while and decided that he wanted to produced and act in the movie. Farhan feels the title itself will generate curiosity and is excited to essay the title role. As for Deepika she has always been very fond of Farhan especially after ‘Rock On’ and desired to work with him. So, when this offer came along, it was a dream come true.

However, co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani maintains, “We are in talks with Deepika but nothing has been finalised.

Salman takes Katrina for a ‘MacDonald’ date

Though our film stars are fitness freaks and especially our Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, they have their own shares of binging at casual dates once in a while. So, it was that after a recent trip to Salman’s Panvel farmhouse, the couple were returning to Mumbai when they felt the need to stop for some fast food as they both were hungry. They stopped at Mac Donald’s for a burger date. The moment their fans saw the land cruiser waiting outside MacDonald’s they rushed to them for photographs and autographs.

Shilpa Shetty launches Sona’s ‘Unique’ showroom

Shilpa Shetty launched actress Sona’s first business venture, the showroom Unique, on Friday 9th at a function at the Taj Connemera in Chennai. Shilpa had come down to Chennai after a long time and said that she did it because of her personal acquaintance with Sona.

The Unique showroom is located opposite the SIET college and will showcase handpicked accessories from around the world. Speaking about the showroom, she said that it would be a one of its kind shopping place for all lifestyle requirements. She said that there would not be more than one or two of a given design or piece of any item in the showroom which would ensure that the buyer would get to retain the uniqueness of what has been bought.

Shilpa Shetty also added that she has been invited by Prabhu Deva to act in Tamil again and that she was interested to do more movies down south opposite top stars.

Says Sona, “Shilpa was amazed at the product list we showed her. International brands not available in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, will be available in my store. We will showcase only handpicked accessories from around the world and no two products will be the same.

Sanjay Dutt enters politics

It was a surprise announcement from Samajwadi Party on Thursday when it came out that Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt would be its candidate from Lucknow for the Lok Sabha elections “subject to clearance by the Supreme Court and the Election Commission.” Mr. Dutt, who had been sentenced by the High Court under the Arms Act, would be the party’s star campaigner in the elections.

Announcing the party’s first list of 29 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections after a meeting of the Central Parliamentary Board here on Thursday, party general secretary Amar Singh said, “Like a BJP MP, who is a known cricketer, was allowed to contest despite being convicted, we too will try our best to field Sanjay Dutt. If we fail, he will certainly be our star campaigner.”

He also claimed that Sanjay Dutt had agreed to contest. “Dutt told me you are like my elder brother. He said he would do anything I ask him to though he said he was not a political person,” Singh said.

Mr. Singh also said that recently the United Nations made him their global ambassador on malnutrition. “Since we are an ally of the Congress and Sanjay’s sister Priya is a Congress MP, we hope the party would be happy

Glam Dolls in the swimming pool for Trump Card

Glam dolls of Bollywood and the upcoming models Urvashi Chowdhary, Yashika and Manasi came together at the Madh Island in Mumbai for the shoot of a song sequence in their upcoming movie ‘Trump Card’. The three male actors in the movie are also new faces in Vikram Kumar, Pankaj Gupta and Haider Khan.

The movie is a suspense thriller and a murder mystery. Although it is being made on a low budget, nonetheless the actors and actresses are all excited about the project as they hope that the film will make their presence felt in the tinsel town.
